Applying for BWC Membership

If you would like to join the Buy With Confidence scheme, please fill in and submit this form. Staff from your local Trading Standards Service will contact you shortly.

Your local Trading Standards Service will evaluate your application, but the following points give a general guide on requirements for Buy With Confidence membership. Your company must:

Be committed to good customer service
Have been operating for a minimum of 6 months
Be based in a local authority area which operates the scheme or do the majority of your business in one of these areas
Not cold call customers
Comply with consumer protection legislation (see www.everythingregulation.org.uk.)
Have appropriate insurance
Abide by the terms of membership of the scheme.

The cost of scheme membership varies depending upon which authority your business is based in and the number of business premises that you have. Please see the Buy With Confidence Map to find the charges for your local authority.

Applicants are asked to note that they may be required to provide criminal records disclosure certificates.

Criminal Convictions
Consumer Credit Licence (where appropriate)
Membership of any claimed trade associations or professional bodies
Trading Standards Services' own enquiry databases

The information requested on this form will enable us to carry out a range of background checks and to maintain an application or membership file. If your application is successful, the details will be kept throughout the duration of your membership. If your application is declined, or your membership ceases, the information will be retained for reference for up to six years thereafter.
